1935 Established Banasthali Vidyapith Celebrates 83rd Annual Function
Playing a pioneering role in revolutionizing women’s education and empowerment in India for the last eight decades, Banasthali has scripted numerous success stories in a wide range of fields, and stands tall among the citadels of learning in India today.
Appreciated by the world at large, Banasthali firmly believes that to be top ranking, it is the foremost responsibility of any Indian educational institution to nurture humans with the tolerant and harmonious view of life as envisaged in the Indian culture the spirit of which has been beautifully captured in the Indian Constitution by the founding fathers of the nation.
Banasthali has been in national and international media attention for getting Quacquarelli Symonds QS Asia University Ranking, QS BRICS Ranking, Diamond status under QS i-Gauge Indian University Rating and the overall Four Star Ranking in - QS Stars Rated for Excellence with 5 Stars for each for Teaching, Employability, Facilities, Arts & Culture and Inclusiveness.
With 16000 students coming from different parts of India, the 850 acre Banasthali campus itself is a mini India echoing the lines of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in National anthem “Panjaba-Sindhu-Gujarata-Maratha Dravida-Utkala-Banga.”
The rich ethnic diversity of India truly comes alive when the campus celebrates Hariyali Teej, Janmasthami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratra Dandiya & Garba, Durgasthami, Dusshera, Diwali, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Eid al Fitr, Christmas, Lohri, Basant Panchami and Holi.
On 23 Mar 2019, Banasthali organized a grand function to celebrate the 83rd annual day and the Chief Guest for same was Dr. Virander Singh Chauhan who is currently Executive Chairman of National Assessment and Accreditation Council ( NAAC ) – an Autonomous Institution of University Grants Commission (UGC). Prof Chauhan is an Indian scientist and a Rhodes Scholar working in the fields of genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and known for his contributions to the development of a recombinant vaccine for malaria. He was honored by the Government of India in 2012 with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
Prof Chauhan has been associated with international bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) as the member of the Expert Advisory Panel on Vaccines and Biological Standards, International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and Asia-Pacific International Molecular Biology Network (A-IMBN), South Korea, as a member of their Technical Research Groups etc. Prof Vibha singh Chauhan was the special guest for the occasion.
The Chief Guest Prof VS Chauhan had a ceremonial welcome at Swagat Dwar and visited the Shantabai Shiksha Kutir which is the birth place of Banasthali. At Gandhi Ghar, he had a breakfast meeting with senior officers of Banasthali and faculty members which was followed by a ceremonial parade at Laxmibhai Maidan. Starting from the Art Gallery Kala Mandir, he visited various landmarks in the campus and witnessed a spectacular display by students of horse riding club, shooting club and flying club.
Addressing the ocean of students and faculty at Mahindra Pragya Mandir Pandal, Prof Chauhan said that he was amazed to see the beautiful amalgamation of women’s education, values, Indian culture and ethos, technology and advanced infrastructure in this world’s largest fully residential university, He also reiterated that Panchmukhi Shiksha, the ideology behind women’s education at Banasthali, had played a pivotal role in helping the students to realise their potential. The evening cultural program loaded with a variety of musical and dance performances had the dignitaries, invited guests and audience enthralled till late hours.
It goes without saying that the students and faculty who attended the 83rd annual function of Banasthali left with beaming faces and pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women’s universities not only in India today but across the globe.
