Each one of them firmly believe that when a Mission is taken up with passion, there are no dreams too large, no innovation unimaginable and no frontiers beyond reach. When the challenge comes, BITSians raise above the rest with a suitable response.
Every batch has unique characteristics and the 88 batch is no exception. The batch is also loaded with an array of corporate Chairman, Managing Directors, COOs, CEOs, CTOs, CIOs, Scientists, Presidents and Vice Presidents, Techies, Entrepreneurs, Media Moghuls, Academicians, Distinguished Professors, Realtors as well as Consultants. This large hearted batch had recently raised Alma mater Altitude with whopping INR 1.5 Crores Endowment for Scholarships.
The 88 batch honchos include Diwakar Pingle, Managing Director at Christensen India Private Limited; Srikanth Krishnamurthy, CEO, Alfa Rubber and Distinguished Alumnus Ramanan Laxminarayan founder and director of the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP) in Washington, D.C. When Corona Virus menace triggered lockdown across the nation at large, the triumvirate Diwakar Srikanth and Ramanan put their heads and hearts together and came with a BITS Food Effort COVID-19 mission to raise USD 15000 to help the daily wage earners and other people from the weaker section of the society in and around various BITS campuses in India that have been impacted by the ongoing crisis.
Despite the menace, one can see smiles on the faces of affected daily wage earners in and around various campuses of BITS Pilani thanks to this initiative which gave them food security in form of meal packets apart from grains and provisions. Unlike many other institutions, the alumni of BITS do not believe in resting in the glory of their Alma mater but passionately believe in adding glory to their Alma mater by their achievements and contributions. To be a top ranking institution, every institution has much more to do which includes social engineering for nation at large other than the parameters listed by ranking institutions like QS, Times Higher Education, NIRF etc.
