Color fastness is the resistance of a textile's color to different impacts during manufacturing and use. The darkening of the sample and the stain of the undyed inner fabric are used to determine the fastness grade. The color fastness test for textiles is a standard component of the intrinsic quality test for textiles.
During their usage, textiles will be exposed to a variety of external impacts such as lighting, washing, ironing, sweat stains, friction, and chemical agents. Some printed and dyed fabrics have also undergone specific finishing processes, such as resin finishing, flame retardant finishing, sand washing, wool grinding, and so on, which needs the color and color fastness of printed and dyed textiles to be maintained.

Color fastness to washing
To achieve test results in a reasonably short period, the sample is sewn together with the standard lining fabric, washed, cleaned, and dried, and washed at the appropriate temperature, alkalinity, bleaching, and friction conditions. The friction action in between is accomplished by a tiny bath ratio and the proper amount of stainless steel beads rolling, impacting, and obtaining the test results with a gray card rating. Temperature, alkalinity, bleaching, and friction conditions, as well as sample size, vary according on the test standards and client needs. Green orchid, vivid blue, dark red, navy blue, and other colors have poor color fastness in general washing.

Rubbing color fastness
Place the sample on the rubbing fastness tester and rub it with a standard rubbing white cloth a specified number of times at a certain pressure. Each sample group must be examined for dry and wet rubbing color fastness. A gray card is used to assess the color of a typical friction white cloth. The resultant series represents the color fastness as measured. Color fastness of friction tests involve both dry and wet rubbing, and all colors on the sample should be rubbed.

Colour fastness to sunlight
When textiles are used, they are regularly exposed to light, which can harm the dye and cause the well-known "fading," in which colored fabrics change color, commonly becoming lighter and darker, and some will even change color bright. As a result, the color fastness must be tested. That is, the sample and blue wool standard fabric with varying levels of fastness are placed together under prescribed settings for sun exposure, and the color fastness to light is evaluated by comparing the sample with blue wool cloth. The greater light fastness, the better the degree of blue wool standard fabric.

Color fastness to perspiration
The sample is sewn together with standard paste lining fabric, immersed in sweat liquid, clamped on the color fastness to perspiration, placed in a constant temperature oven, dried, rated with gray card, and tested. Varied test techniques have different perspiration liquid ratios, sample sizes, test temperatures, and times.

Chlorine bleaching fastness
After the fabric is washed in chlorine bleaching solution under certain conditions, the degree of color change is assessed. This is chlorine bleaching fastness.

Non-chlorine bleaching fastness
After the fabric is washed in the washing condition with non-chlorine bleaching, the degree of color change is assessed. This is the non-chlorine bleaching fastness.

Pressing color fastness
After covering the dry sample with cotton lining fabric, it is pressed in a heating device at the prescribed temperature and pressure for a certain amount of time, and the color change of the sample and the color touch of the lining fabric are evaluated using a gray sample card. Hot pressing color fastness covers dry pressing, damp pressing, and wet pressing. The test technique should be chosen in accordance with the various client needs and test standards.

Color fastness to saliva
The sample and the specified lining fabric are bonded together, placed in artificial saliva for treatment, the test liquid is removed, the sample and the lining fabric are dried separately, and the color change of the sample and the stain of the lining fabric are evaluated with gray card.
