E-waste Recycling Marketwill boost the future Electronics Industry in Upcoming Years
Electronics waste is the debris we generate from extra, broken, after used and obsolete electronic and electrical devices. E-waste recycling is the process of recovering material from old devices to use in new products. We are creating e-waste at a rapid rate. With such a very short useful life, these electronics transition into e-waste at a rapid rate.

The vast majority of Americans – 95% – now own a cellphone of some kind. The share of Americans that own smartphones are now 77%, up from just 35% in Pew Research Center’s first survey of smartphone ownership conducted in 2011. Every year millions of electronic devices such as mobile phones, TVs, computers, laptops, and tablets reach the end of their useful life.
The electronic wastes include household appliances such as TV, air conditioners, computers, mobile phones, laptops, DVDs, oven, microwave, fans, heaters, toasters and others. Recycling of electronic waste is an upcoming trend which growing enormously as there is a severe need to protect human and environmental health. Rising health hazards such as bronchitis, kidney damage, and Wilson’s disease, due to the inadequate discharge of toxic materials from electronic scrap and incineration, are augmenting the need for efficient scrap management techniques. Electronic wastes have a very high impact on the environment, the pollution due to the increasing electronic wastes as led to the recycling of electronic waste on a larger scale.
Electronics are full of valuable materials including copper, tin, iron, aluminum, fossil fuels, titanium, gold, and silver. Recycling e-waste enables us to recover various valuable metals and other materials from electronics, saving natural resources (energy), reducing pollution, conserving landfill space, and creating jobs.
Collection and Transportation: Collection and transportation are two of the initial stages of the recycling process, including for e-waste.
Shredding, Sorting, and Separation: After collection and transportation to recycling facilities, materials in the e-waste stream must be processed and separated into clean commodities that can be used to make new products. Efficient separation of materials is the foundation of electronics recycling. A powerful overhead magnet separates iron and steel from the waste stream on the conveyor. Further mechanical processing separates aluminum, copper and circuit boards from the material stream which now is mostly plastic. Then, water separation technology is used to separate glass from plastics. Visual inspection and hand sorting improve the quality of the extracted materials. The separated streams of aluminum, copper and circuit boards are collected and prepared for sale as recycled commodity materials.
Preparation for Sale as Recycled Materials: After the shredding, sorting and separation stages have been executed, the separated materials are prepared for sale as usable raw materials for the production of new electronics or other products.
To reduce the E-Waste generated across the world, E-Waste management initiatives are being taken by the government agencies of various regions. Market players are taking measures to recycle the E-Waste in order to reduce the pollution and environmental hazards caused by it.
Despite various electronics recycling benefits, the lack of regulatory and recycling infrastructure is anticipated to hamper the electronics recycling market growth. Further, a lack of awareness in a less developed nation coupled with few e-waste collection centers may pose threat to this market.

Furthermore, the presence of precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and gallium makes electronic scrap recycling an attractive and feasible option. These factors are poised to positively influence market growth. Electronics recycling is definitely a growth industry, but as in many other industries, managing regulatory requirements is increasingly becoming one of the keys to success.
