These free, open-air events, known as the Guiyang Roadside Concerts, are spontaneously organized by music enthusiasts and the public each weekend from Zhucheng Square to the bustling commercial areas and scenic spots. During major Chinese holidays like Spring Festival, May Day, and National Day, special themed performances add an extra layer of festivity, ensuring that music and dance flow seamlessly through the holiday season. Axel Zajac, the bassist of the German band Malstrom, and his band were invited to perform at the Guiyang Roadside Concerts in August this year. Their special jazz-rock concert electrified the crowd and received unanimous praise from local music professionals. Reflecting on the experience, Axel shared that it was the best show of their China tour, thanks to the vibrant atmosphere and unique energy of the Guiyang street concert.

Since its launch, the free-admission Guiyang Roadside Concerts have attracted widespread attention from the public and media. In 2024 alone, over five million visitors from both China and overseas have attended the live performances.
