Motivational Talk by BITS Pilani Prof Rajneesh Choubisa at JMA Pilani on National Youth Day

India celebrates every year the birthday of iconic spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda who was born on 12 January 1863 as National Youth Day. The relevance of Vivekananda for an educational institution is best understood by Swamiji's quote "We want that Education, by which Character is formed, Strength of Mind is increased, the Intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet."

The Thinker – Saint Swami Vivekananda played a stellar role in ending India's cultural isolation from the rest of the world thus becoming India’s first great cultural ambassador to the West. In India it is customary for schools to organize career counseling sessions and motivational talk by experts on this day.

Popularly known as school with 100% results, Smt. Jamuna Mishra Academy (JMA) established in the year 2004 is presently one of the most sought after schools at Pilani considered as Oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan. Right from its inception, JMA Pilani has embarked on a rich tradition of celebrating various days of national and international significance.

On 12 Jan 2019, JMA organized for the senior students of the school a talk by Prof Rajneesh Choubisa Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani. He had done his research on “Enhancing College Students’ Well-Being through a Web-Based Intervention Module: An Empirical Investigation” and holds a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology – IIT Delhi in Psychology. Presently he is also Principal Investigator for a project titled "Development & Validation of a Prototype of a Web / Mobile App Based Positive Psychological Intervention for Adolescents."

His teaching experience includes courses like Environmental Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Individual and Group Behavior, Business Ethics, Introductory Psychology, Research Methodology, Organizational Psychology, Human Resource Development and Conflict Management. Mrs Booma Natarajan Principal JMA welcomed the speaker Ms Kritika Mandad introduced the speaker to the audience.

In his talk to JMA students, he emphasized on Faith, Self Confidence, Strength to fight a cause, high ambition, determination, time management etc and advised them not to feel inferior as compared to students from other boards. He gave a clarion call to the students to read the book “The Wealth of Nations” by Adam Smith and said that youth are the wealth of the nation and are destined to serve the nation. The talk ended with a question answer session. Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan proposed vote of thanks and presented a glittering memento on behalf of the school to DR Rajneesh Choubisa.
