NEXTBASE ANNOUNCES US DASH CAMS LAUNCH

(BOSTON, MA) [October 1st, 2018] – Following its remarkable success overseas, Nextbase, the European-based Dash Cam giant and the world’s bestselling manufacturer, announces today the launch of a range of cutting-edge Dash Cams in the United States. Available for purchase as of today, today, October 1st, 2018 on Amazon.com, the range aims to protect US motorists by capturing unrivalled quality of video footage through the use of groundbreaking technological advancements.

The pioneer that made Dash Cams the fastest growing consumer technology category in the UK, Nextbase currently owns a vast 82.9% market share in that territory. It has used its extensive knowledge of the sector to design Dash Cam models that are poised to surpass competitors in the US, as they have done in Europe.

Having a Dash Cam gives drivers a major advantage if involved in an incident, especially when it comes to insurance matters, as they provide concrete video-based evidence of how events unfold, proving liability should a traffic incident occur. Nextbase Dash Cams are designed to capture the highest quality footage, day or night, and in the most extreme weather conditions.

“We’ve had incredible success in the past five years in Europe, starting in the UK and expanding throughout Europe, where in a short space of time we have vastly increased the Dash Cam market to become the bestselling brand by some distance,” comments Richard Browning, Director at Nextbase. “We’ve been planning our US launch for two years, and now we are ready to bring our products to the American market. Dash Cams which produce high quality road footage even in the toughest of conditions will provide US motorists with the reassurance that comes with having an extra pair of eyes on the road, streamlined insurance claims and discounted insurance premiums, amongst others.”

Nextbase is launching five Dash Cam models into the US market, all of which are easy to install, small in size and suited to varying consumer budgets and needs. From its entry model (priced at $79) through to the market’s most high-end Dash Cam ($249), Nextbase Dash Cams boast some of the industry’s top technological features, including Sony EXMOR R Sensor for unbeatable image quality, in-built GPS to record location, and Wi-Fi that allows motorists to instantly upload footage to their insurer, social channels, or other third parties via the Nextbase app. The app’s Nextbase Replay 3™ software also provides full video editing capability, all of which further demonstrate Nextbase’s mission in not only delivering incredible footage quality day and night, but also understanding that once an incident is captured, the user experience needs to be efficient and easy for the customers when accessing the video.

From an insurance savings perspective, Nextbase was the first ever Dash Cam manufacturer to partner with UK insurers in creating a ‘Dash Cam policy discount’, whereby consumers would have money deducted off of their insurance premium by using a Nextbase Dash Cam. Many of the top US insurers including State Farm, Plymouth Rock Assurance, Nationwide, Progressive, Geico, All State and Liberty Mutual have confirmed that they accept Dash Cam footage for all new claims, and moreover, highly encourage motorists to submit when applicable.

It is with that knowledge that Nextbase has set out to replicate their success in the European market, as negotiations are already underway with several leading US insurers to offer considerable incentives to motorists who install a Nextbase Dash Cam into their vehicle.

Outside of the potential discount, such footage can especially save motorists from costly and timely insurance proceedings. In fact, according Nextbase data, in 38% of all split liability claims, video evidence would have changed the outcome to a non-fault. What’s more, it was also found that insurers can resolve claims with Dash Cam footage up to 50% quicker than without, meaning that an insurance claim can be resolved much sooner than the average standard motor claim time of 248 days.

In the US, statistics show that over six million Americans will be involved in a motoring incident every year. According to recent studies by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this results in American households experiencing a staggering $80 billion loss in damages each year – unmistakable proof of an overwhelming need to improve motorist’s safety and overall experience on US roads. Furthermore, with premiums rising drastically due to an increase in insurance premium tax, and with fraudulent insurance claims becoming more and more prevalent, motorists and insurers are both putting heightened emphasis on the importance of Dash Cams to stand as their independent witness in the event of an incident.

On the state level, per the New York Insurance Association in 2009, New York City, otherwise known as the nation's “crash for cash” capital, showed consumers paid up to four times as much on their auto insurance premiums than the state average, and litigation regarding no-fault claims has clogged the courts. Statewide, auto policyholders paid an additional $229 million ($628,000 per day) to offset the cost of no-fault insurance fraud.
