Puredrive Virtual Power Plants (VPP) - changing energy management, providing consumer freedom
Puredrive Energy (PDE), is one of the UKs leading battery storage specialist, and manufacturers with their founders having more than 10 years’ experience in the development, deployment, and placement of battery storage solutions.
PDE launches one of the first Virtual Power Plants in the UK, a digital control system that can connect hundreds of households and businesses together, enabling their battery storage systems to charge and discharge simultaneously. This unlocks greater revenue for owners, with machine and AI learning predicting income opportunities and optimising responses at sub-second level. With the energy landscape rapidly changing, the VPP will put the consumer in control of their energy procurement and consumption, enabling them to make decisions as to where their energy comes from, and when and how their energy is consumed.
When the VPP is combined with the high performing Puredrive battery storage system, an unrivalled combination of energy savings and revenue generation opportunities are achieved.
Battery storage systems draw power from the grid when tariffs are at their lowest, enabling the consumer to draw that power back when demand is at its highest. The modular Lithium-ion batteries from Puredrive, can save the consumer on average up to 70% on the total cost of electricity when used in conjunction with solar panels. Battery storage systems also include critical features such as UPS, protecting against power cuts and switching automatically to Off-Grid status within 20mS enabling computers and servers to continue running, which is a big advantage for hospitals, care homes, hotels, and any other business with mission critical energy needs. Industrial batteries can also provide protection for businesses against blackouts, and power fluctuations in sensitive industrial scenarios.
Mark Millar, CEO of Puredrive explains, “With power-outs becoming more frequent, and the increase in demand from electric vehicles, the grid is under constant strain. In 2019 the grid reserves went down to 3% because of increase in demand and a decrease in production. The VPP when coupled with our battery storage systems, offers a greater degree of flexibility that enables the consumer to take control of their energy, increasing their independence from the grid. The increase in demand from smart homes and smart cities will only increase the frequency of power-outs, unless the grid is ‘balanced’ and that is where the VPP can assist.”
Puredrive Energy can make a real difference to the energy landscape in the UK. Currently discussions are underway for Puredrive Energy to supply battery storage systems to over 50,000 homes in the social housing arena, a project that can provide 240 MW hours of power back to the grid. With other current and projected projects Puredrive Energy is on target to provide 1 GW back to the grid.
Testimonial
Shamir Jiwa, CEO of the Maximeyes Group - one of the early adopters of the Puredrive VPP and battery storage systems.
“Puredrive Energy are clearly leaders in the battery technology arena, providing value and flexibility to all its customers. Also, they are a British company, using British made products which enables them to deliver a high level of customer support, which is very important to the way in which the Maximeyes Group operates. The Puredrive Virtual Power Plant gives our customers the opportunity to deliver 40MW of energy to help support the grid, whilst supporting the UK to drive towards a greener and more sustainable energy supply.”
