Specscart ventures to make high street eyewear accessible – with 70% discounts
Specscart – one of Britain’s fastest growing eyewear startups – is on a mission to make designer eyewear more accessible to people. Last week it launched a new collection of sunglasses and here https://specscart.co.uk/ at great discounts. With a no-middleman model, the company has successfully created a business model where it can provide high-quality eyewear at low prices to people. Starting at just £29.99, the frames are constructed with high quality materials like acetate and titanium.
Cutting out the middlemen – 70% less than High Street
Specscart started in 2017 with a simple question – for an accessory so intimate and important, why are glasses so expensive? Since the eyewear industry is dominated by a few particular players, prices are inflated. Even basic frames cost a lot, with designer frames going upwards of £100. That is why people used to own a single pair of frames for years on end. And in case someone broke their last pair of glasses before an important meeting or exam, there would be a lot of hassle and stress to get them repaired.
Specscart was found by an alumnus at the University of Manchester to address this very issue. “If people can own 4 pairs of shoes, then why not glasses?” asks Sid Sethi, founder and Managing Director at Specscart. The secret behind their success is manufacturing eyewear in the UK itself, and selling them directly to customers.
Since the retailers are removed from the process, it allows them to offer their specs online at a discount. Moreover, with in-house handcrafted frames, there is a strict quality control process which ensures high standards of production. “We are highly trend-conscious, offering frames which are in demand by the people – whether they are round sunglasses or translucent spectacles or any other style. Being in touch with customers directly helps us to stay on our toes constantly,” continues Sid.
Wide range of sunglasses and Glasses Online
The company believes true luxury lies in choice and service. That is why they host such a wide range of eyewear on the website. There’s a plethora of options to choose from – iconic cat eyes, funky round frames, modern textures, translucent frames in different shades, and a lot more. Customers can choose different pairs of frames for different occasions. For example, rectangular metal glasses for work, black acetates for a lunch date, round sunglasses for a day at the beach, etc.
The frames also come pre-loaded with basic necessities. All Glasses come with free anti-glare, anti-UV and anti-scratch coatings (lenses are also impact resistant). Sunglasses also come with polarized and UV400 lenses. They can also be customized with prescription lenses or tints of the customer’s choice. In case people are doubtful about buying sunglasses and specs Online, they can also try the free Try At Home service, where they can order up to 4 frames at home for free, check them out and return them within 7 days. The company then delivers fresh frames in case the customer likes any.
Specscart Rocket
There’s also another benefit that the company offers because of in-house manufacturing. Most of the orders on the website are dispatched within 24 hours. Even with prescription lenses, customers usually receive the orders on their doorstep the very next day. According to Sid, they’ve mastered the supply chain to offer an additional edge in the online eyewear space. This has been made possible with a state of the art lab in Manchester. At the lab, advanced technology and technicians with 20 plus years of experience make sure that there is a quick turnaround time after completing 3-point checks.

Specscart is a Britain born startup created to make eyewear more accessible. Its vision is to turn glasses from an instrument of sight correction to a fashion accessory for daily wear. It also provides anti-blue light – or X-blue lenses – to provide protection against blue rays emanating from digital screens like phones, laptops, computers and tablets. The startup has been awarded with the Albert Gubay Award 2017 and Venture Further 2018. It provides free shipping to consumers all over the world. It currently has two stores in the UK – both in Manchester – where it provides free eye tests to people.
