The Infinity School's Students Experience The 'Joy Of Giving' With Prayaas - A Social-Connect Initiative

Students of grade VIII from The Infinity School, Noida Extension visited a local school operated by the 'Apna Ghar Social Welfare Society' in Noida. The visit was a part of The Infinity School's social-connect initiative 'Prayaas' aiming at recycling old books, notebooks, and unused stationery items to support the education of underprivileged students. With this visit, the school intended for its students to understand & model care, one of the four core values practised at The Infinity School.
About Prayaas:
Raising awareness through social interactions is a vital part of community building. It enhances students' understanding of the world and helps them hone major skills and values. Keeping the thought in mind, The Infinity School launched the recycling drive 'Prayaas' in association with the learner-parent community. The campaign invited voluntary donations of old/unused books, notebooks, and stationery items that are donated to the NGOs supporting education. The idea is to promote the concept of 'reduce, reuse & recycle' among students, giving them a chance of sharing their possessions with others, who're in need.
About The Visit To AGWS School:
The Infinity School's students took a guided tour of the school, gained information on the role of NGOs and how they facilitate educational opportunities for the needy sections of the society. They interacted with students from gr. VI to VIII at the NGO-operated school and handed over the NCERT book packs to them. The purpose of this visit was to encourage student-to-student interaction for enhancing the exposure of children towards existing social issues & learning barriers, creating opportunities for them to understand and appreciate values like empathy, kindness, gratitude, sharing, etc., and facilitating the joy of giving: a crucial experience for building self-esteem and contentment in children.
The most gratifying part of this visit was the buddy reading session. The activity aimed at raising awareness on the importance of reading and building literacy skills in students. Children were divided into multiple small groups that participated in read-aloud sessions. Helping their peers read boosted the self-esteem of students and invoked the sense of giving back to the community.
All-in-all it was an enlightening and transformative experience for the students.
