If the plant comes in a hessian sack, always plant it directly in the sack without removing it, as it will naturally decompose and protect the roots during establishment.

For wet or poorly drained areas, additional drainage may be necessary. Adding grit or gravel to the bottom of the hole can help prevent waterlogging. Also, avoid planting too deeply - ensure the tree or plant sits at the correct depth to support proper growth. Taking these steps to improve soil and drainage will give your plants the best start and ensure they thrive.

Spread the roots out naturally in the planting hole, avoiding clumping or bending. The root collar (where the roots meet the trunk) should sit at ground level for optimal growth and stability.
