Unmasking Suicide in Youths: A Curated Collection of Research
Memphis, TN (August 9, 2018)—Today, Physicians Postgraduate Press, Inc. (PPP), released their latest Curated Collection, this time focusing on suicide in youths and young adults. This new collection includes 16 articles from both The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and The Primary Care Companion for CNS Disorders.
Today’s release of “Unmasking Suicide in Youths” is particularly relevant right now. Dr Philippe Courtet, the Section Editor for JCP’s Focus on Suicide, comments, “Among 15- to 29-year-olds, suicide is the second leading cause of death in the United States and the third leading cause of death worldwide. To help young patients who are likely to attempt suicide, health care professionals must be able to spot the warning signs.” This collection comprises several years of research, reviews, and meta-analyses for a thorough and comprehensive digest of peer-reviewed, indexed material on characteristics, risk factors, and prevention of suicide among young patients.
From this collection, clinicians will learn to identify clinical characteristics of young patients who are likely to attempt suicide; spot the warning signs in specific behaviors; determine if patients’ thought processes, and even their personalities, may put them at an elevated risk for suicide; consider whether other medical or mental factors play a role in risk; and know what tools are helpful in diagnosing and preventing suicide. “Unmasking Suicide in Youths” is available for purchase as a single PDF at Psychiatrist.com for $75. To view and purchase the collection, go to Psychiatrist.com/Suicide.
PPP is a leading medical publisher and owner of Psychiatrist.com, home to 3 unique destinations for information—The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry (JCP), The Primary Care Companion for CNS Disorders (PCC), and the CME Institute. JCP is a peer-reviewed publication that is indexed and abstracted by the National Library of Medicine, is the official publication of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and is among the top 10 most-cited psychiatry journals worldwide. PCC is a peer-reviewed, exclusively online publication and is indexed in MEDLINE/PubMed. The CME Institute, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide CME for physicians, offers more than 150 activities, most of them for free, in a variety of print and web formats.
